Scalloway Fish Market is owned by Shetland Islands Council. The new market has been built on the site of the old market but it has double the capacity whilst being extremely energy efficient.
The Scalloway Fish Market has a chilled storage area of 1381m². Although it is a large area it is extremely energy efficient and therefore only uses half of the energy of the old market.
Both new markets at Lerwick and Scalloway have the potential to utilise new opportunities for more fish being landed into Shetland.
